37 Shades of Green

I joined* NeXT 33 years ago and spent 37.5 dog years (1991 - 1996) working for the company that Steve Jobs had founded after leaving Apple.



Background information on the genesis of the NeXT logo designed by Paul Rand:

"A subordinate at Next Computer was showing Jobs shades of green for the company’s logo. More precisely, she produced some 37 shades of green before coming upon one that pleased the master."

    Steve's attention to detail went well beyond the logos of his companies:

    Google - “I’ve been looking at the Google logo on the iPhone and I’m not happy with the icon. The second O in Google doesn’t have the right yellow gradient.”

Marquard meint damit:  Die Fähigkeit, die eigene Unfähigkeit zu vertuschen und mit Pseudokompetenz zu kaschieren.  Die Amerikaner sagen dazu: Fake it till you make it. Auf gut Deutsch: Täusche etwas vor, und wenn sich Erfolg einstellt, kannst du behaupten, es lag an dir.  Das Dumme ist nur: Am Ende setzt sich immer die Inkompetenz durch. ... Schein statt Sein !
